A desogen pill contains hormones that alter a woman’s menstrual cycle which prevents her from pregnancy. It works by avoiding the ovaries to produce an egg and at the same time thickens the mucus found in the cervix which disables the sperm cells to go through and reach the egg for fertilization. Desogen is taken everyday in order to have its effect on the female reproductive system. The pills should be administered at almost the same time everyday so women who use this are recommended to take the pills in a time which is easy to remember like breakfast or bed time. Desogen pills can be taken with or without food intake but if a woman experiences stomach aches or other related symptoms, then it should be taken with a meal.

Each pack of Desogen contains 28 pills and should be taken daily. If a pill is missed, there is a great chance that a woman will get pregnant. If in any case three or more pills are missed in a row, throw away the current pack then get a new one and start again. It is also prohibited to use a desogen pill if a woman recently gave birth.
